Maya Wise is a communications specialist and partnership builder, whose work aims to empower people, especially those on the margins, through storytelling and community. A resourceful creative producer and thoughtful writer, they adeptly balance the creative vision, the nuances and integrity of the story, and the practical needs to bring it to life. As a queer disabled creator, they’re committed to disability justice and queer liberation in all aspects of life.

They’ve produced, marketed, and led community engagement for independent films and short series. They assistant directed on the feature film Idalia and the Niño Santo, which won first place at MIC Género – Mexico City’s International Film Festival of Gender. Maya is passionate about storytelling that sheds light on the universality of the human experience and reminds us of the importance of human and nature connection.

Previously, Maya focused on communications for healthcare, where the divides are wide and there is a dire need to build effective bridges between the many facets of a complicated system. They led numerous multimedia advocacy campaigns, directed content strategy for healthcare companies, and developed systems to better inform patients and consumers.
